Our nursery is situated in the history-rich village of Bathurst, in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Our passions: promoting indigenous plants and using non-invasive gardening practices. The marriage of the two creates an ecologically balanced, wild-life friendly garden.
Guests are encouraged to meander through our garden with Lorraine, discussing their needs and gathering hardened plants straight from the soil. A stroll in the covered and open nuseries displays the rest of our 300 varieties of plants on offer. This unique experience has made us a 'must visit' stop for travellers and gardeners from every province in South Africa.
Our love for talking about gardening is as passionate as our love of gardening. On our nursery blog we write about what we have discovered, what has worked and what hasn't, creatures we have seen and whatever else is happening in our garden.
We would welcome your contributions: comment on our posts, ask questions, send us photos, be the first to identify new plants and share your experiences – where have you been and what have you seen? Let us know!
The information on our database has been gathered, sifted and summarized from over a hundred sources. Initially the plants listed were only from the Eastern Cape Province. The interest shown has encouraged us to begin incorporating plants from the rest of South Africa. Most entries have accompanying photographs. Use our finely tuned seach facility to help you choose plants suitable to your needs or to identify species. Use the Add new comment box below each entry to add your contribution to the database.
